• free studios
    • We‘re currently offering four desks in a bright studio of 40 m2 at the Heikonaut. One of four single desks is 155 € per month, including 19 % VAT. Internet (VDSL) and the base fee for the telephone are included, as well as heating and electricity. The studio has direct access to the 3000 m2 garden with a large sandpit, a couple of trees and facilities for urban agriculture.

The Heikonaut is a former kindergarten - a functional and beautiful East German mid-century building located in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde - that has been transformed into a vibrating
co-working space by designers of anschlaege.de. By now there are illustrators, filmmakers, writers, photographers, artists and designers from the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Armenia and Germany working at the Heikonaut.

We share a transfer server, a fax and a copy machine, a lightdesk as well as a kitchen with an espresso machine. Our cook offers a vegeterian lunch three times a week. The basement does not only provide storage space but also a silk-screen printing workshop, a pattern shop and a cavetto that can be used by all tenants. The Heikonaut is equipped with an alarm system.

There is a direct bus connection to Neukölln (30 min to Hermannplatz). It is a 5 minutes walk to the S-Bahn station Betriebsbahnhof Rummelsburg from where you can get to Berlin Central Station (25 min) or Warschauer Straße (12 min). A bike ride to Kreuzberg will take you 25 minutes across parks and paths along the Spree.

  • about
    • When Yuri Gagarin journeyed into outer space, Berlin’s Friedrichsfelde neighborhood was a test site for postwar modernism. New apartment buildings, libraries and swimming pools were built. Preschools, too, for people who would naturally reach for the stars.

In 2005, the designers of anschlaege.de saw the utopian potential of the former preschool at Sewanstraße 122. They transformed it into a place where designers, photographers, illustrators, artists and writers have been working ever since.

But Heikonaut is not just a coworking space. The building’s manageable size and the open structure of its architecture guarantee focused work and allow for the exchange of ideas. Here, projects arise where creative disciplines intersect. Printing and model-making shops enable experimentation. The big backyard provides strawberries, recreation and visions that have three-quarters of an acre to unfold in.

      Heikonaut. Let’s start from here.

  • service
    • Heikonaut offers studios and workshops ranging from 180 to 430 square feet, on two floors. Rooms can be combined to form studios of up to 1,290 square feet. Almost every room has a view of the yard, and some even open directly onto the terrace. A spacious kitchen with an espresso machine is available for all to use.

A cook comes three times a week and makes lunch for everyone. Knowledge transfer—both creative and practical—is a regular occurrence at Heikonaut. Like bookkeeping help, to take just one example.

In the basement are workshops that are open to everyone, including a carpentry and model-making shop, a silkscreen shop (textile and paper) and a small photo studio with a cyclorama wall and a copy stand. Storage rooms in the basement are available for rent.

VDSL and VPN are available at Heikonaut. There’s telephone service too, and an FTP server that can be used for group projects. A fax machine and a copier (b/w, A3) are available for common use.  Heikonaut also has an alarm system.

At Heikonaut, artists, designers (fashion, product, web, communication), filmmakers, illustrators, photographers and writers work on their projects. When the opportunity arises, they work together. You’ll get the best impression of their work by looking at their websites.
